Graduate Fellowship for Academic Distinction at York University in Toronto
Graduate Fellowships for Academic Distinction are scholarships awarded to incoming doctoral or master’s students with high potential for future leadership in international affairs; environmental protection; fine arts; and/or, political economy.
This scholarship is renewable for up to two years for Master's students and for 3 years for doctoral students. This is the most prestigious York internal award at the Master's level and one of the highest valued at the doctoral level.
Value and Duration
Master's Level Scholarship
- Scholarship: up to $10,000
- York Graduate Fellowship: $10,000 (domestic rate)
- Tuition Support: $5592 (amount varies)
Doctoral Level Scholarship
- Scholarship: up to $20,000
- York Graduate Fellowship: $5403 (domestic rate)
- Tuition Support: $5592 (amount varies)
Duration
- Up to 2 awards for Master's students and 2 awards to doctoral students
- Up to 2 years of funding is available for Master’s students. Up to 3 years of funding is available for doctoral students

Eligibility
- Master's and doctoral
- both Domestic and VISA students are eligible for this award
- Selection criteria includes:
- High potential for future leadership in international Affairs; environmental protection; fine arts; and/or, political economy
- Academic accomplishments
- Leadership potential
- Experience in international affairs
- Research topic that seeks to address social problems or needs.

If the Admissions file contains only two letters of recommendation please indicate within the letter of nomination from the Program, and, - Letter of nomination (supplied by graduate program director)
Deadlines
- Program nomination, with complete documentation, is due to the Scholarship and Awards Coordinator in FGS by March 1.
