The Optimist (excerpt)

That an overload of optimism is equally as bad as being overly pessimistic, but what drives human attempts to progressiveness is feasible optimism. This type of optimism is interwoven with other structural and material conditions and can be limiting/crippling. The optimism I talk about is driven from within and there is no start or end to it. It is this optimism from within which excludes outside barriers that I make attempts to emphasise. Be Optimistic-it starts with you. Read The Optimist on ngendab.blogspot.co.uk pinterest

The Optimist-4

By this time, Ninong was almost done with tearing apart his “opaga” (big pants) trousers. Do you really want to know why he strips off his garment? Asked the optimist. And with great enthusiasm, Nahou shouted, ‘yesssssssssss’ to the hearing of everyone else. The “yesssssssss” yell took many standing next to Nahou by surprise. They started staring at him and briefly thought that he’d been attacked by the spirit of madness. Just then The Optimist did a rare favour for Nahou; transporting himself into the “mad man’s” being. The Optimist could only say what he felt in the present state of the mad man’s being in order to effectively translate Ninong's mental state. The optimist had to scream for Nahou to hear:  “He is very happy; he is happy because he finally caught the plastic paper he’d set out to catch despite the traffic and the hurdles. His brain is empty and he is not thinking of  other things. He is living in the present. Wow!!! That’s what I have attempted to explain all a

Build Your Dreams

Encouraging words

Image
Fear is an extremely powerful and negative thought that keeps many of us from exploring our potentials. Too oft, we worry about what Mr. A would say, and what Mrs B would do. But I want to encourage you to overcome your fears; be an over-comer. Today, I am here to say that if you can dream it, you can beat that fear. Just like fear is born in our minds, so too are our dreams/pursuits. Most times, our  trouble in realizing our potential is based on the fact that we feed our fears with reasons. The reason my neighbour succeeds is mainly because she/he has a god-father, after all they are rich, and they have someone at the top. Our fears get validated and we continue to remain in our dream worlds. If you want to see your dreams come alive, you must stop giving reasons as to why they are unworkable. You must arise above fear by persistently working hard. Don't allow failure to put you off. some people start by trying, others don't even try. For those who try sometimes, failure kid

Nahou wanted to find that one thing that would move the world, which would make him control the world like he’d imaginatively controlled the world with his minds, sending signal of his mind’s presence to every household. He wanted to be one with oxygen, to be inhaled in every breath, but wanted to last only as long as one breathe lasted. Nahou knew his source, he mastered his act; his endeavour was to make sure he got the power to make the world stop for a brief stare on him, just like Ninong-the mad-mad. Just one brief moment, not too much. As he pondered, the optimist listened. Sometimes, he thought as though The Optimist  wasn't  present. Other times, he felt as though The optimist was a complete nuisance. It was during these moments  he wished he was a cow which uses its tail to send away fleas. He was wishful he’d find a tail to swipe and scare The optimist whom he considered a thoughtful menace. Unfortunately, he felt as though he was a cow without a tail and as the people s

What is the Meaning of your Life?

Guard yourselves against negative programmes. Experiment with yourself-put off that screen with bad news and guard the content that the brain stores. Avoid negative people: they are vexations to the spirits. Fear can paralyse you. I remember before I created a page as an author, I was afraid. I was so scared that I decided to de-active from Facebook. I did so for two days because prior to starting a page for myself, someone was narrating my life story in a way that put me off from trying to be who I can best be. He told my story to me as though he was talking of someone else. After two days of contemplation, as it is not the first time, I blocked the person from my page, and decided to go ahead with what makes me happy. I learned within those two days that fear is my greatest stumbling block, and I am now determined to overcome it.

The Optimist (excerpt)

If you cannot rejoice in some other person’s success, you place stumbling blocks on your path and success will be unable to locate you. For to become successful, you've got to do so by tapping into other peoples’ glory moments; you've got to get inspired not bitter, you've got to get fired up and not broken down, to work hard and not sleep. Don't hate for hatred creates an enemy within. It drains and it is wasteful. Feeling bitter about your situation? Get up, sit up, 'man up ', pull your socks up and find your 'personal legend' (what drives you). Chase that passion like you're fighting to retrieve your last breathe. 'You've got to desire success as bad as you wanna breathe' You've got to give up your nights and days. You've got to challenge yourself. You've got to want it so bad that sleeping means sleep for real (sleep out of exhaustion). Pursue your passion till it becomes a reality. Come back for continuation of "

“I am glad to have you around, but when you do come next time, may your presence be less tumultuous as this. See,  you've  made the mad man chasing the plastic bag swinging in the air, and look there he is chasing the paper.” Nahou responded The "mad man" had let loose over that piece of paper. He must find it to wrap the food he wants to eat. He ran past the cars, the motorbikes, the bicycles and the prams. He ran passed everyone in a hurry and since he was in a strange flurry everyone let him go pass. All eyes were on his craziness. He was the craze of the town whom they called “Ni Nong.” His clothes shattered; everyone could see patches of his bare skin. His bottom was sticking out of the holes of the “opaga” (big leg) pants he wore. Thank God the front was all tacked keeping his genitals intact. For a brief, everyone stared at him; some laughed, some took pity on him, the kids just like “ni nong” were happy, they giggled and some made mockery. Others wondered why

The Optimist (excerpt)

People will generally accept you in a place of mediocrity, but when you spring out of that level, think big, muscle up, do big, they will shun you for mustering courage to step out of that zone. Their problem is basic: they are defeated by your efforts, bitter because they’d like to be where you are, but cannot muster enough courage. They look at you now, but blindfold their eyes to your place of departure (where you come from/what you've been through). They will envy you, de sire to be who you are, but will not rejoice with you for being where you are. So you have to leave the old bitter friends, and make new friends with those of your new environment-the new place you've challenged yourself to be. No doubt that the saying goes, "as you move forward in life, you may need to change your circle of friends. Everyone around you isn't interested in seeing you improve." Once you've stepped out of that level of mediocrity, do not weep about this friend or that frien

The Optimist-1

He was a boy from the village who had a unique gift. He knew there was something different about him, something that was present in him that was absent in many. It was the presence of a an omnipotent. The Optimist could be imagined, but could not be perceived and whenever he thought of the power it felt as though it was present and that he was supreme above all. The power had control over the minds of everyone else stretching from the seas to the sands, control over dawn and dusk. That power was present in the boy because there was a void-the absence of rubies and cowries for it was the absence of rubies and cowries that unlocked the doors for The Optmist to gain entry into a soul. The Optimist for that was the power’s name; He could only dwell in a soul that had very little encounters with rubies and cowries. Rubies and cowries were the main means that enabled people to carry out a commercial activity. It was near impossible to survive 'rubieless' and 'cowrieless'. S
