Special Scholarship Program (SSP) – Kochi University of Technology (Japan)
The Special Scholarship Program (SSP) was launched in 2003 by Kochi University of Technology (KUT), Japan, to advance cutting-edge research while attracting highly capable doctoral students, particularly from overseas.
Each year, in April and October, KUT enrolls selected PhD candidates to join designated research projects. Under this unique program, students:

Pursue their doctoral studies in English (Japanese students excluded)

Assist their host professor as a Research Assistant (RA)

Contribute directly to innovative research projects while gaining financial and academic support
Through SSP, KUT aims to strengthen and expand its international academic collaborations with institutions worldwide.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Hold, or be scheduled to obtain, a master’s degree before enrollment at KUT

Be 35 years old or younger at the time of enrollment

Have an outstanding academic record with strong bachelor’s and master’s degrees from reputable universities

Demonstrate adequate knowledge, research skills, and motivation to participate in one of the designated research projects

Possess a high level of English proficienc
