2019 AFRICAN WOMEN'S PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP

The African Women’s Public Service Fellowship, made possible by a donation from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, expands the opportunity for African women to impact for public service in their home countries. The Fellowship provides full tuition, fees, housing or a housing stipend (if enrolling in the Global EMPA program), travel to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses. Fellowship recipients commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the program with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa. Why Do Students from Sub-Sahara Choose to Study Abroad?

Image
Many students I work with always want to study abroad, but the one question that they fail to answer is, why do you want to study in a particular country? Some of them begin by denouncing their educational systems when they barely have the experience of studying abroad. How do you make a comparison or a judgement by experiencing just one side? How do you know studying abroad is better than studying in your home country? I would love to hear from those of you who have studied in your respective countries and furthered abroad to make comparisons. The rationale is to enable those based in Africa to put into perspective certain elements before they make the decision to venture on a study journey abroad. Please share your experiences on the comments section so that prospective students can get your different angles and learn. Thank you Have a wonderful weekend from all of us at Beveen Mentoring Academy. Beveen Mentoring Academy is your best guide to admission and schola...

In today’s era of technological change and the need for adaptability, human capital, in some measures, explains up to two-thirds of income differences across the world. Investments in human capital, specifically education, skills, and health, are not only key drivers of productivity and economic growth, but also contribute to individuals’ self-empowerment. The advancement of human capital depends on two main drivers: i) the quality of investment in the early years – covering childhood education, health and nutrition; and ii) maximizing the accumulation of skills, knowledge, and well-being throughout people’ life cycle. The successful combination of these two elements is key to achieving the World Bank’s twin goals of reducing poverty and boosting shared prosperity as well as the   United Nation’s Sustainable Development ...
