Why Do Students from Sub-Sahara Choose to Study Abroad?

Many students I work with always want to study abroad, but the one question that they fail to answer is, why do you want to study in a particular country? Some of them begin by denouncing their educational systems when they barely have the experience of studying abroad. How do you make a comparison or a judgement by experiencing just one side? How do you know studying abroad is better than studying in your home country? I would love to hear from those of you who have studied in your respective countries and furthered abroad to make comparisons. The rationale is to enable those based in Africa to put into perspective certain elements before they make the decision to venture on a study journey abroad. Please share your experiences on the comments section so that prospective students can get your different angles and learn.
