Being a Mom
So someday, you too are going to be a mom. Absolutely nothing in this world will prepare you for it. But I want you to note most saliently, that the little beauty in having a child, is for you to be there each time he/she calls. In my view, being a mother is empowering as I respond to the needs of the little one who is pristine in nature and sometimes with so much affection, but sometimes, things seem overwhelming. I recall my first encounters: I would tuck the little one in and doze off too and it would feel like the greatest accomplishment, but just after a few minutes the little one would be up again scratching the beddings and making baby noises and I would question within me, "chai, this pikin now now so you sleep?" and with heavy eyes, I'd still wake up, find a spot and cuddle the baby into my arms. Once in my arms, the baby would rub its mouth against my chest looking for food. And at what time? Midnight! Here I am missing those moments with the knowledge that I can't relive them. The beauty is in stretching back to those baby encounters and smiling within and being asked, "momma, why are you smiling?" And my respond would be, "cos I'm happy". However, the most beautiful of all those times is seeing how the baby has transformed and evolved...and while I revisit those baby times, I try to ensure I keep abreast with the little one's current needs. Thank you for making me a momma!!! And immense thanks to my mama-she's just one awesome woman and may God keep you going strong till till!!
Happy mom's day to all women regardless of whether they have babies or not because somewhere in every woman's heart, a thought of having a baby once lived.
"Being a mother isn't simply a matter of having children. To think that is as absurd as believing that having a piano makes one a musician." -- Sydney Harris
Being a mother does not mean having the kids and leaving them to their own devices. Doing so could be compared to building a house without a roof. Being a mom is one of the untaught ways of bringing up a child expected to warm the heart of the world.

May God endow parents with the knowledge they need to bring them up in a way that lights the world. Amen
