TWO DOCTORAL STUDENTS IN MEDIA AND COMMUNICATION STUDIES 2019

Örebro University seeking doctoral student for the doctoral programme in Media and Communication Studies at the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences commencing September 2019.
Department of Media and Communication Studies at Örebro University is a thriving research environment of recognised international standing. The announced positions should be linked to at least one of the department’s three research groups.
The group of Discourse and Communication Studies specialises in such areas as critical discourse studies, analysis of broadcast talk and media language. Studies focus on communication in contemporary public debates and analyse traditional as well as web-based/social media. The group of Film and Visual Communication Studies works on various aspects of visual and multimodal communication, film history and on critical approaches to film and visual culture. The research in the third group, Strategic communication, conducts research on business, public sector and the wider public sphere including politics. 

General entry requirements

Applicants meet the general entry requirements for doctoral studies if they:
  1. have been awarded a qualification at the Master’s level, or
  2. have satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits (four years) of which at least 60 credits (one year) were awarded at the Master’s level, or
  3. have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
Applicants with credits or qualifications from undergraduate programmes under the previous Swedish higher education system corresponding to these entry requirements are also eligible. The University may permit exemptions from the entry requirements for individual applicants, if there are special grounds.
